Bury Council use New Build framework for 60 bed care project

Working with Reallies partner Procure Plus, Bury Council chose the Reallies New Build Framework as its procurement route for a high profile 60 bed extra care project.

The council also utilised the Consultancy Framework to appoint the professional team comprising Employers Agent, Architect, Interior Designer, Structural and Services Engineers required to develop the design and produce the required tender documentation/process from which a suitably experienced and qualified contractor could be selected and appointed to undertake the Project.

Capability and capacity criteria in relation to prior experience on similar projects was utilised to generate a list of suitable organisations with Procure Plus acting as advisor and critical friend at all stages of the process including evaluation, appointment and value engineering, and will continue this role through to project completion in October 2018.

Sharon Hanbury, Head of Urban Renewal Communities and Wellbeing  said: “Working with Procure Plus and accessing the relevant frameworks to procure and implement this complex project has been a great success. We have built a strong and capable consultant/contractor partnership to take forward and deliver our project, and we ook forward to its completion and handover next year. The professionalism and expertise of Procure Plus has been invaluable to myself and the Bury Council Team in adding value to all aspects of the process and we look forward to working with them again on future new build projects”

Tenders received for the project were very competitive and came in on Budget. Further improvements in overall value were achieved through structured value engineering in the pre-contract stage.
